In the present era, when the production of works of art and architecture is increasingly influenced by computational trends and artificial intelligence, it has become necessary to understand the dialectical relationship between form and content in the context of a certain worldview or ideology. Based on Henri Lefebvre's theory of "production of space", this research examines how content is represented by form at three levels: perception of the building, living experience in space, and its physical-conceptual cognition. First, the research background is reviewed and then the three components of Lefebvre's theory of production of space are explained. The qualitative research approach was based on the paradigm of pragmatism, deductive-inductive logic, and the method of philosophical-structuralist content analysis; data were collected from library and internet sources. The findings show that the production of meaning through form requires situations of presence, signifying physical elements, associative networks, and symbolic structures; In a way that each element, in the whole system and individually, forms part of the process of transferring meaning. At the physical-bodily level, light, shadow, porosity and density, materials and spatial quality, objectify the aspect of “formal action”; at the psychological-sensory level, the fusion of perceptions and mental exposure to the work forms the action of “representing form/space”; and at the intellectual level, the connection of human and natural contexts with the structure of thought (including ideologies, beliefs, traditions, metaphors and myths) leads to the creation of new and meaningful forms/spaces. A case analysis of the Iranian Artists’ House shows that the whole-to-part relationships in Lefebvre’s trilogy can help clarify the dimensions of the “social production of space” in contemporary cultural architecture. These results highlight the importance of the intertwining of form and content in the social production of space and its reflection in contemporary Iranian cultural architecture.
