Regarding the importance of universities and graduate-
level institutes in research, education and expert
realms, the key role of providing a structured
model for education has been always a focal concern.
This issue is even of a higher relevance in
planning for art disciplines where improving students’
initiative and competence require a careful
supervision.
In this article five main characteristics of
graduate education would be discussed, namely
student, professor, education-research system,
possibilities, and conditions. These characteristics
would be further evaluated. The results will be
used to enhance a curriculum in which the instructive
goals of education, research, and expertise
are seen.
Since the principal strategy and policy of education
in Iran involves being up-to-date, Islamic,
dynamic, and indigenous, it is claimed that there’s
a distinction between being Islamic or indigenous,
as a principle, and those criteria that affect the
outputs of the educating system. Hence, analyzing
the historical relationship between science, art
and religion can provide some insights about the
similarities and discrepancies of above mentioned
principle and criteria.
While introducing three main levels of education
of architecture in university, i.e. BS, MS and
PhD, this article would assess different educational
systems regarding their aims, structures and

tasks. Ultimately, the importance of educational
programming in accordance with Islamic worldview
will be discussed.
