Rereading the Issue of Author through the Cyberspace
Ali MohammadVali * , Farzan Sojoodi
Abstract:   (6478 Views)

This article tries to answer some questions on the possibility of the formation of a different art in the cyberspace. The questions have been specifically selected from the pre-internet texts that are about the author issue. Clearly none of the intellectuals has proposed their questions on the cyberspace. However, it is felt that those issues proposed in their thought have the capability for investigating the possibility of art creation (generally) and literature and aesthetics (specifically) in the cyberspace. So, first of all, the issue itself is re-read through some questions then, it is tried to answer these questions by concentration on the manner and function of the author in the cyberspace. The suggested thoughts have generally concentrated on the author as a “writer” but it is possible to re-read them based on the title of “an artist”. The proposed questions are as follows:

- What kind of relation is between the creative element of an artistic creation and a deterministic position?

- What is the separator of a work from the other productions of an author?

- What is the difference of the cyberspace from other domains of the emergence of the work of art (containing its production and distribution)?

- Under what conditions should we expect a new aesthetic element in the cyberspace?

This article is set in two parts. In the first one, named the nature of the author, the ideas of Jean-Paul Sartre, Roland Barthes, Maurice Blanchot and Michel Foucault are re-read by a concentration on the issue of the author.

In the second part, the proposed issues of the first one are reproposed through the experience of production and distribution in the cyberspace and the previous answers are investigated. This re-reading is done in three fields of work, author and audience. Finally, the optimistic and pessimistic prophecies on the new position in the cyberspace have been generally, and Iran’s cyberspace specifically surveyed.
